Corruption can be studied from different angles, but this research is intended at discussing Brazil as a rich country, but poor and uneven as a result of the effects ofcorruption that retards social development. Notwithstanding that Brazil is among the Five largest economies, it is still in 7th place in the category of social inequality. Brazil is a rich country, but the question that is asked is why is there so much poverty and inequality among its people? One answer is that corruption plagues the country and devastates public resources, diverting them from their real goals, wcich are focused on the welfare of the population. Brazil could have fewer people in the line of poverty and social inequalities could be reduced if there was less diversion of public resources with corruption. Moreover, corruption is closely linked with immorality, stressing that morality also encompasses the administered part, that is, the individual, not just the public administrator. Thus, all people have the share of participation both on the development and on the maintenance of corruption, and so everyone should fight against it.
